The predecessor for Nansha palace of queen of heaven was the celestial concubine temple built in Lujin country, Nansha district, In the Ming Dynasty. In Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty, it was entitled as "Yuanjun ancient temple" after repairing, which was blown up by Japanese during the Anti-Japanese War.

In 1994, Henry Fok, the deceased former vice chairman of the CPPCC national committee and well-known industrialist, proposed and donated for rebuilding Nansha palace of queen of heaven, and had a grand completion celebration on May 10, 1996 (Mar 23,1996 by lunar calendar, the queen of heaven’s birthday).  

It is worth mentioning that, since the reconstruction in 1996 for queen of heaven, Nansha area has no longer suffered from the frontal attack of the powerful typhoon. So, for that Nansha people can live in happiness and Nansha economy can flourish, we all thanks to the sanctuary and bless of queen of heaven!
